What is Tandem Paragliding?

Tandem paragliding is a paragliding wing large enough to hold two people, an instructor and a passenger. Each person is seated comfortably in their own harness which are attached together by spreader bars, with the passenger in front and the pilot behind.

What is the difference between hang gliding and paragliding tandem?

Construction: A hang glider is delta shaped and rigid where a paraglider is parachute shaped and made of soft material. A paraglider can be packed in a backpack and easily be carried up mountains. Both hang gliders and paragliders are foot launchable aircraft and can maintain or even fly higher by utilizing dynamic lift from wind blowing up a mountain, or from using thermals which are hot air columns and bubbles rising up from the ground.

Flight: Hang gliders are more streamlined and are capable of much faster speeds, improved glide ratios, and the ability to fly in stronger conditions as compared to paragliders; due to their slower speed, paragliders can typically land in much smaller fields.

Paragliding versus skydiving.

Paragliding is very different from skydiving in the sense that the wing of a paraglider is much bigger, more aerodynamic and foot launched from a mountain instead of jumping from an aircraft as is the case with skydiving.

Is paragliding and parasailing the same?

Parasailing is not the same as paragliding. Parasailing is a round parachute and dragged behind a boat. Paragliders are shaped like a birds wing and can generate lift once there is airflow over the wing.
